Firewall के functions :

Firewall का जो main function होता है वो होता है packet filtering |

और इसके अलावा जो दूसरा main फंक्शन होता है वो होता है कि Firewall एक प्रॉक्सी एप्लीकेशन की तरह एक्ट करें, जिसको हम commonly application level gateway के नाम से भी जानते है |

और इसके अलावा भी Firewall के कुछ फंक्शन होते है जैसे कि stateful Firewall जो कि dynamic होती है, stateless Firewall , deep पैकेट inspection फ़ायरवॉल, management functions , etc जो कि फ़ायरवॉल के role और firewall सिक्योरिटी पर depend करते है जो कि कंपनी की जरुरत रहती है |

Firewall के features :

Bandwidth control and मॉनिटरिंग(बैंडविड्थ को कण्ट्रोल और मॉनिटर करना ).
Web फ़िल्टरिंग(वेब फ़िल्टरिंग करना).

Deep Packet Inspection, DPI.
