सीधे शब्दों में कहे तो टेबल में जहाँ पर भी refrence है keys के बीच वो बड़े अच्छे से accurately होना चाहिए|

जिससे की डाटा और उस पर होने वाले ऑपरेशन consistent रहे|

DBMS में के अंदर जो referential integrity होती है वो primary key और foreign key के बीच…

…सही अथवा actual सही combination होता है जिससे कि हम सही वैल्यू को identify कर सके |

और जो referential integrity के नियम होते है वो भी primary key और foreign key के basis पर होते है |

और इस रूल्स के अनुसार यह होता है कि हर foreign key के मैचिंग में एक primary key होती है |

और एक टेबल से किसी दूसरे टेबल में जो रेफ़्रेन्स होता है वो valid होना चाहिए|

रूल्स के हिसाब से employee टेबल में जो DEPT_ID है वो department टेबल में एक मैचिंग DEPT_ID रखती है |

टेबल को ज्वाइन करने के लिए referential integrity का एक नियम यह भी कहता है|

कि जो primary key कॉलम है और जो foreign key column है उनके data type same होने चाहिए|
