Difference between router and bridge.

Hello Friends, The difference between router and bridge is given below.

A bridge operates at the data link layer of the OSI model while a router operates at the network layer of the OSI model|Difference between router and bridge|

A bridge transmits the frames between similar networks while a router transmits the packets between potentially different networks.

A bridge is a simple hardware device while a router contains the software to choose the fast route.

Routers are more intelligent than bridges.

Bridges are mostly used in LANs while routers are used in internetworking.
